ABSTRACT
This study examines how English language teachers in private higher education institutions in Naga City, Philippines, utilize AI-driven English language development software for language teachers. The study evaluated the utilization of AI-driven English language development software by the English language teachers of the private school college instructors in the five major institutions in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Bicol. This study aims to 1) Identify the AI-Driven English Language Development Software utilized in college classrooms, along with: (a) assessment, (b) content, (c) teaching strategy; 2) Propose an output that can help improve the utilization of the AI by the language teachers. Using a qualitative research design, online focus group discussions were conducted with 10 full-time English instructors from five institutions. Semi-structured prompts explored utilization (assessment, content, teaching strategies) and perceived impacts on teaching efficacy, effectiveness, methodology, and techniques.
Transcripts were coded and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The study presented that the themes in the Assessment were AI-driven software that enhances formative assessment through immediate, data-driven feedback that tracks learners’ progress. Also, in terms of Content, the findings showed that there is an integration of AI that allows for adaptive, personalized, and contextually relevant language learning materials tailored to students’ needs. Finally, findings showed that in Teaching Strategy, AI tools reshape teaching strategies by supporting blended, interactive, and learner-centered instruction in English language development.
