ABSTRACT

This study evaluated the effectiveness of a Psychology Board Exam Review Program among fourth-year psychology students at the University of Batangas, Lipa City, during the academic year 2022–2023. The research aimed to determine whether participation in the review program improved students’ preparedness and performance in key psychometrician board subjects such as Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Personality, Psychological Assessment, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Employing a quantitative research design, the study utilized pre- and post-tests, as well as mock board examinations, to measure knowledge enhancement and assess predictors of Board Licensure Examination for Psychometricians (BLEP) performance. Furthermore, descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-tests, correlation analysis, and ANOVA were used to evaluate differences and relationships among test scores. Results revealed varied outcomes across subjects: a significant improvement in Theories of Personality scores and fluctuating performance trends in Psychological Assessment, suggesting subject-specific learning differences. Correlation analyses indicated limited relationships among pre-test, post-test, and mock board results for some subjects, highlighting potential gaps in curriculum alignment and instructional methods. However, significant correlations in others demonstrated effective learning transfer and test readiness. The findings emphasize the importance of continuously assessing and refining review programs to ensure alignment with board exam content and competency standards. In line with Republic Act 10029, or the Philippine Psychology Act of 2009, this research contributes to enhancing psychology education by providing empirical evidence to improve training methods and to ensure that future psychologists are well-prepared, competent, and globally competitive professionals.
