ABSTRACT
School tools and equipment have become an integral part of enhancing the teaching and learning process by exhibiting information necessary to acquire knowledge and skills. This study evaluated the perceived effects of tools and equipment concerning office skills development of BSOA 4th year in BISU Candijay Campus, the school year 2021-2022. It also evaluates the status of BSOA students in terms of office skills development in terms of stenography skills, company/typing skills, and students’ ability to use any tools and equipment. The findings of this study served as the basis for determining the effects of tools and equipment concerning office skills development. This investigation utilized the quantitative research design and a descriptive survey method of research using a questionnaire through a Google form. The study was conducted at Bohol Island State University, Candijay Campus. Total enumeration was used to select the respondents. The target population was 199 BSOA 4th-year students. Still, only ninety (90) respondents provided information on their demographic profile and the status of office skills in terms of stenography computer skills and students’ ability to use any tools and equipment after several follow-ups to analyze quantitative data percentage, and the weighted mean was computed. Findings revealed that more respondents belonged to the 21-25 age range. The majority of the respondents were females with a single status in BSOA 4B. Based on the study, it was found that the status of the office skills development in terms of stenography skills was denoted as good. On the other hand, computer/typing skills and the student’s ability to use any tools and equipment were denoted as very good. Lastly, the composite mean of the status of office skills development was denoted as very good, which means that the BSOA students are proficient in using the tools and equipment. The result of the perceived effects of tools and equipment on BSOA students strongly agrees that the availability of tools affects skills development.
